ITS UNDERWHELMING THE MITSUBISHI LANCER LS.

July 30th, 2010

When looking at the Mitsubishi Lancer LS a few things matter, Size counts, right? And larger is better, right? Mitsubishi is hoping on that tactic for the Lancer, which has a bigger engine and cabin than its rivals.. It’s not a bad car, just underwhelming.

It may very well be as reliable as tomorrow and as durable as a blacksmith’s anvil, but Lancer’s lack of advancement reflects its conception and development by Mitsubishi Japan during a time of great economic stress.

While the 2.0 pulls strongly through the middling rev range and cruises easily with a long-legged gait, it can be momentarily snatchy in light-throttle/slow-speed situations.

There’s reason to smile at the bowser, however, for Lancer’s fuel consumption is in the 1.8’s ballpark. For that you can probably thank the engine’s relatively modest state of tune, and gearing just tall enough to assure economical cruising without the need to downshift quite as often as its smaller rivals. Not that shifting is a chore; the lever skims from slot to slot as though on rails.

It’s a pity the same can’t be said for the Mitsi’s cornering characteristics The chassis offers ample balance, but very little enthusiasm for brisk cornering because the soggy suspension doesn’t generate much grip and hasn’t much regard for direction. Everything is put exactly where its expected and works with absolute ease. That includes the radio, which has an after-market look and larger controls than the Honda

The steering scores with a particularly tight turning circle, then disappoints with effortlessly light weighting and a poor sense of connection. Civic’s itty-bitty buttons.

Lancer’s front seats are comfortable for commuting, although lacking laterally for hard cornering. The rear accommodation stands out from the crowd due to substantially more legroom than usualThe bench itself is relatively high, if short, and, while adequate for brief trips, lacks sufficient shape for long-range comfort. The middle armrest with two cupholders is a welcome detail. But it’s not enough to prevent the conclusion that while the Lancer LS has things going for it, they’re fewer than expected

The Nissan 350Z A Sporty Coupe

July 28th, 2010

Technically, the Nissan 350Z is not a replacement for the turbocharged 200SX coupe, which was axed . Nor is it a substitute for the lovely but lardy 300ZX which went bye-byes in 1996; a coupe still popular with the grey importers. Spiritually the 350Z embodies both those vehicles, and a fair bit of the rich Z-car heritage which stretches way back to the original 240Z.,

Whatever, get used to the 3.5-litre V6 because it’s in our next Maxima, detuned slightly for more luxurious, refined driving. In the 350Z, however, it lets everything hang out. And boy do we like it.

The Z’s steering is best stated as a precision instrument, responsive to the smallest thought or hint. The quick-ratio steering is perfectly in tune with the car, and the low-profile Bridgestone Potenzas have bugger-all tyre wall to dull the process.

Through bumpier corners the front wheels kick back through the steering, but you’ve got to be punting hard to get this. There’s a strong argument for this level of feedback in a vehicle as focused as the Z. Look at it not as a fault, but rather another type of communication.

.Understand the intention of this motor. It’s a traditionally laid-out sports coupe which gives away little at the altar of comfort and looks. The ride is unforgiving and unyielding on rougher roads. The entry in my book says “unashamedly sports-biased” and that’s maybe an apt phrase for the whole motor.

The sports seats are bolstered and extremely grippy. A good driving position is accessible through the tilt-adjustable steering wheel – on which the instrument binnacle is mounted, so it adjusts along with the wheel.

The boot area is actually quite big and easily accessed via the hatch, though space is bisected by a massive cross brace housing between the strut towers.

The 350Z is equipped with the usual comforts such as remote central locking, electric windows and mirrors, CD stacker and cruise control. Safety features include dual-front, side and curtain airbags, seat belt pretensioners, traction control and anti-lock brakes. Find one here Find Used Nissan Cars For Sale Laois to suit your needs.

The Cars Of Tomorrow

July 24th, 2010

What will the future be like? The future of the car has been a favorite topic of Movies and television for years. What did you think vehicles would be like in the year 2010? Floating space speeders like on The Jetsons? Hovering craft like in Star Wars? We imagined better, faster, cooler cars than ever. That isn’t the direction that technology has taken. Cars already do what we need them to do. Hovering would be cool, but wouldn’t really serve any other purpose. The police are busy trying to slow drivers down because our cars already go more than fast enough. A lot of the time we can’t even use the speed our cars are capable of because there’s too much traffic. Although we do want good looking cars, consumers are choosing cars that look good, but pretty boring. Even spoilers are usually understated and painted the same color as the car. Auto makers tout the vehicles’ reliability and safety records, which has improved exponentially in recent years. Is there anything we need that our current cars don’t offer? Even more practicality, in the form of fuel efficiency. The price of gasoline has soared in recent years, and it’s expensive just to drive around town. Cars that run on less gasoline, or none at all, are the hot sellers. There are a lot of options for accomplishing this goal, from propane to hydrogen to biofuels. None of these technologies is perfect yet, especially economically. One technology has taken the lead in the last few years and reached the consumer via the car dealership showroom: electricity. Hybrids have been here for a while, and fully electric cars are appearing now. Toyota was the first to get its hybrid, the Prius, to consumers at a reasonable price. The other automakers followed closely on their heels. The Ford Escape, Infiniti M35, Honda Civic and Nissan Altima are just a few of the offerings. Hybrids don’t have to be small anymore, either, as evidenced by GMC’s Sierra and Cadillac’s Escalade. The government has encouraged the use of cars that consume less gasoline and don’t cause as much damage to the environment by offering financial incentives. You can go buy one of these cars today at your local Atlanta Honda Dealer or Car Dealers Des Moines with no problem. The fully electric car is the next development we’ll see. You’ve seen them for quite a while, in experimental cars owned by the local power company or as spec cars at car shows. The Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf are finally hitting showrooms. Limited range and battery price are not completely resolved yet, but clearly this is the direction that new cars are going. Good old fashioned fuel efficiency is getting overlooked to some degree. Even gasoline powered engines can be greatly improved if they just use less gas. This is a technology that’s been slowly but steadily improving for many years. There are gasoline powered cars getting 34-35 MPG – the Honda Civic and Ford Focus to name a few. This was unimaginable back in the 80’s when gas was only $1.35 a gallon and we loved our V8s. So while we’re unlikely to see cars like the DeLorean from Back to the Future or Kitt from the Knight Rider, cars will continue to evolve to meet our ever-changing needs. America’s love affair with the automobile is far from over.

1994 Toyota Celica And Its Wonders

July 22nd, 2010

toyota celica

The Toyota Celica is the very popular name that has been applied by the Toyota Company to their famous coupes series. Celica was originally driven from a Latin word coelica which means celestial or heavenly. According to 1994 Toyota Celica repair manual, the Celica has been mobilized by powerful four cylinder engines as it is being modified from time to time. The most important change to the features of the Celica occurred in 1986 when the originally rear-wheel drive system was transferred to the front-wheel. In addition, the 1994 Toyota Celica repair manual states that this model has been running on the R series engines by Toyota. The R series engines remained to be mounted in the Celica models for the first three generations. This was very common most especially in U.S. where American owners wanted their cars to be powerful and torquey for them to be satisfied.

Few years ago, Toyota introduced the Celica which was a four-wheel drive version and was turbo-charged at the same time. The production started in 1986 until 1999. Another magnificent improvement came in 1997 when the Japanese car company introduced the variable valve timing n their Celica model. Since then, Japan became the benchmark for all car models. Now, there are actually a lot of interesting features that can be found in the 1994 model of the Toyota Celica. In the proceeding paragraphs we will discuss some facts about the said model based on the riding experiences of owners and professionals as well as on the information stated in the 1994 Toyota Celica repair manual.

The year 1994 was a revolutionary year for the Toyota Celica model. It is when the model was revamped completely. In United States during that time, the Celica was only available in ST and GT trims however, there was an option to avail of the sports package to the GT-S type handling. On the other hand, the St Trim in 1994 had been mounted by a new 1.8 liter 7A-FE engine which was the same engine used on the Corolla models. It showed in the 1994 Toyota Celica repair manual and motorcycle repair manuals that the GT was more powerful in terms of torque because it had a 2.2 liter 5S-FE engine which it shared with the Camry model. In addition, the turbocharged model called the All-Trac was removed from the American market. The ST engine is capable of producing 105 horsepower while the GT can produce 135 horsepower.

In the case of Canada, the 1994 Toyota Celica repair manual and cr450f repair manual provided that the Japanese model came with a sports package that was manifested by the GT liftback version that had four headlights that were highly exposed. In addition, safety features such as the airbags as well as the braking system was also improved in order to protect the driver and then the passenger later on. It also became friendlier to the environment because the air-conditioning system did not anymore use CFCs.

Getting Boxed In By The Nissan Cube.

July 21st, 2010

When it comes to buying a used Nissian Jacksonville FLTitan or even a used Nissan Jacksonville Florida Rogue, I’ll take the used Nissan Jacksonville Cube. Nissan’s cute Cube, after being sold over seas, ultimately makes it to the Mainland and has the mid life car buyers peering its direction with a box appearance and some real cool features inside as well as outside. For the last 30 years Nissan has made enormous changes on the Cube, out doing the xB and the Soul.

The 2010 Scion xB compact SUV is a front-wheel drive wagon with a single piece rear tail gate. A 158-horsepower 4 cylinder 2.4 liter motor connected to one of two transmission a five speed manual or four speed automatic. Professionals have a tendency to relate the 2010 Nissan Cube with the Scion xB or Kia Soul, but the actuality is that nothing looks the same as the cube’s well rounded-box features of the brand new Nissan Cube. For Nissan, 2010 marks the second year that the Nissan Cube will be presented in the United States, although the last three generations have been sold on foreign ground since the early 80s. Most visible in the cabin of the amazing Cube is a ruffle effect that dominates the whole inside of the Cube and puts a soothing awareness through anyone who gets planted inside this Jacuzzi atmosphere.

This great vehicle is loaded with a outstanding selection of standard safety componenets, including ABS with brake assist and traction-control and non-skid systems. Basic seat mounted front and side airbags, and full-length head-protecting curtain airbags keeping all passengers safe. Talks have been made about Nissan coming out with an AWD, electric propelled rear wheels to help the front wheels for better traction in terrible conditions, that’s great for new buyers. Nissan has also talked about a fully electric car based on the Cube, though it won’t be offered for consumer purchase until 2012 in the USA.
