Used Chrysler Purchases Booming In Jacksonville

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Looking for a Used Chrysler Jacksonville today can be somewhat difficult for most folks, especially if you live near a big city where a search for a Used Chevrolet in Jacksonville returns a flock of dealerships. Now buyers are making the choice to drive across state lines in order to aquire a used vehicle and save a handful of dollars. Finding your new or used car you have been looking for can be great fun doing it online for a couple of reasons, one being the pleasure of sitting in your livingroom and enjoying the internet. Staying at home and looking for a used vehicle on your mini notebook sure saves time you running around especially with gas prices being as high as they are now. When it comes to looking for that hard to find piece of information, or a gift for that certain someone the internet can be used like a household appliance.
Buying a used vehicle is what many hard workers were tring to avoid two years prior, but with the industry taking a turn for the worse and more people becoming jobless, alot of us had to get back in to our old vehicles in order to keep more money in our bank account. Even small car business owners are having to cut back spending in every way they can, even if it means down sizing half of their work force and buying cheaper cars just to stay in business.
Making money a few years ago did not seem to be as big of a hassle as it has become today, money is alot less abundant now than prior years. It’s almost like we have to go back to the drawing board to make a dollar these days. Car sales have converted from the new car sales back to used car sales and growing. Pulling your pants up and finding more honest and genious ways to make money in the used car buisness is about the only way I can think of.

2010 Hybrid Car Challenge

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Toyota has announced the cost for the new Prius. The Insight is much cheaper than the Prius by a few grand. The Insight is now the least expensive hybrid out on the market in the U.S.

The Honda has a great system that will help educate the driver how to drive more economically and thus save fuel. The ECO socring helps the drive to have a system that allows for the best fuel economy, which is related back to the operator in the form of a miles per gallon readout. An electric motor gives the engine a nice boost, this system is called the integrated motor assist or IMA. This new technology further reduces weight, saves on manufacturering costs, and adds to the overall cabin space. The Honda sports a VTEC motor that is connected to an automatic transmission. For about the price of a base mopdel Prius, you can get a nicely equipt Insight that comes with: rims, USB integraded stereo, navigaion with voice recognition, and steering wheel mounted shifter. The goal of Honda is to make the Insight the top dog in the hybrid market, and this would entail selling more cars then the ever populat Prius.

Opposed to the Insight is the Prius with a 160-hp 1.8L engine and features three different driving modes. Those include ECO mode, which allows more of less pedal responsiveness for fuel economy, the EV mode that allows the vehicle to run only on battery power for ½ mile, and the Power Mode which increases pedal sensitivity for more responsive driving.  The Prius also has a PCS, Pre- Collision System, available.Adaptive Cruise Control uses a laser to keep the same distance between your car and the car infront of you, and the Prius will automatically apply brakes if needed. Toyota has a new system of buttons on the steering wheel that will help keep the driver safe.

Even though the Insight has won the batlle of the price tags, the Prius still has a better MPG rating.Right now the MPG ratings for the new Insight are at 40 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway, and the Prius comes in at 48 MPG city and 45 MPG on the highway. If you drive over 20,000 miles in a year (with gas costing .50 a gallon), owning the Honda would cost 19 in gas per year and owning a Prius would cost 86 per year. When you drive a Prius, the amount of gas saved compared to an Insight is about 53 gallons, so to cover the lower price you would have to drive for 27 years. The Toyota Prius does net a better MPG rating, yet the Honda is a better value due to its cheaper MSRP!

Back to work for Honda staff at Swindon

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Thousands of Honda employees have returned to work at the company’s Swindon plant after production was halted for four months in response to the struggling car market. The 3,400 workers have agreed to taking a pay cut until 2010 but are pleased that their jobs are finally guaranteed after the uncertainty of the last four months.

The factory was forced to close while the company decided on the best way of dealing with the problems caused by the global recession and the effect the economic downturn has had on the number of car sales and contract hire agreements. The motoring industry has been hit hardest of all and many car manufacturing companies are struggling to make ends meet, but the situation at Honda and how they have recovered could stand as an example to other companies who are still struggling. Tamporarily suspending production at the Swindon plant has allowed them time to make important decisions about the future of the business as well as perform long-planned maintenance work. The production lines were stripped and rebuilt during the months the factory was closed, and they took the opportunity to redecorate the whole plant, wherever possible using existing employees with the relevant specialist skills or training.

But not everything is good news. 1,300 workers from the Swindon factory chose to opt for voluntary redundancy at the time of the closure, many of whom still have not managed to secure alternative employment. And although the employees returning to work now know their jobs are secure, their pay has been cut by 3%, or 5% in management roles, for the duration of the next 10 months. The reopened factory is currently only running at 50% capacity, with a predicted total production of 113,000 vehicles in 2009, less than half of the original 228,000 estimate.

In short, it’s a small victory but the company is not out of the woods yet, Honda car leasing and sales figures will have to increase significantly over the next few months if they want to avoid any further disasters. The Swindon factory is due to start production of the new Honda Jazz model in September, which should increase sales and work towards securing the long-term future of the plant. Not to mention as the economy begins to recover buyers will be taking advantage of low car prices as across the board from Honda to Mercedes, car leasing and purchase prices are cheaper than ever.
